NYFW f/w 2018 - OFS Shows Recap

Monday, February 12, 2018

Thanks to a fellow NYC blogger, Bethany from TheChicBee, I got the chance to attend a few NYFW shows through the Oxford Fashion Studio. It was a long day, meeting friends for drinks between shows, and making sure my phone never died so I could capture it all, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. I finally felt the fashion week vibes - something I never got the past 3 seasons living in the city.
I'm going to go right into this recap since there were so many fun and amazing collections shown.

Colour by Nandi Madida

This was a collaboration between South African designer Nandi Madida and Josh Patron. The power suit collection stunned the audience with bold autumn colors and patterns, with hair and makeup to match. The designs were simplistic, yet edgy and it was all in the details with buttons, embroidery, bows and more.

Rachel Pollak
This feminine collection was fun and flirty with pops of colors, beautiful silhouettes, and floral embroidery. The styles were simple and elegant with a little gypsy inspiration.

TaDazzleMe
This was a designer shoe line full of fun and exciting styles. Models wore simple little black dresses while rocking some of the coolest shoes to be seen. Some faves were the silver metallic booties, sleek heels with a bright orange flower accent, pearl studded heels, classic white leather booties, and peacock feathered and gold studded heels.

Shabeeg
What is very cool about this brand is that they are fully dedicated to Armenian heritage. With designs created in Armenia, the brand is a medium to help Armenians all over represent and be ambassadors to the fauna, flora and history of their culture.

Mirochoa
A designer bag collection focused on bringing classical beauty and changing contemporary trends together, all while keeping functionality and the importance of the bags intact. This particular collection was chic and playful with bright colors, pretty pastels, and unique designs including my personal favorite, the cupcake style.

B. Zarina
This elegant collection was all about gorgeous fabrics, silhouettes, designs and colors. Long sheer coats and dresses made for beautiful layering. Though red was a classic color in this collection, the red silk jumpsuit stood out as a bold, powerful look.

Tone Fitness Apparel
Athleisure is not going away and I hope it never does. This Australian athletic brand is designed by a 22 year old who clearly understands the appeal to be comfy and trendy at the same time. Between the jackets, track pants, and cool tops, this collection was definitely a favorite of the night.

Annie’s Creations
“Life is not black and white, fill your own colours into it.” This upbeat collection brings out bright and exciting artwork and designs through clothing, bags, and even cute cushions!

Coco & Ilia
This collection was another favorite of mine because of the girly and 90’s/2000’s style inspiration. The designers are college friends bringing confidence and empowerment to all women. This season’s collection features pastels, furs and sparkles within trends like distressed denim, fun sleeves and flared pants.

Nannerwave X Joo Won Yu
This menswear collaboration had a mix of versatile pieces like scarves folding out into ponchos or sweatshirts that surprised the audience. There was also a mix of athleisure and streetwear style with business. My favorite piece was the half casual and white and half dressed up, dark peacoat, jacket.

Jef Albea
This evening wear and bridal designer wasn’t originally on the list of collections to be shown but was an amazing opening-show surprise! These dresses were so beautifully designed and the close details were stunning. I loved seeing the use of different materials layered on one another to create literal pieces of art.
